Oriana Ciani
Oriana holds
a MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and MSc
in Healthcare Management and Economics from Bocconi University. She received her PhD from the Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG), University of Exeter
Medical School (UK).
Her research interests are centred around the use and impact of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) on decision-making in healthcare, on the methodological aspects of the evaluation of health technologies, particularly medical devices, and on the use of evidence synthesis techniques to inform policy decisions and health policies evaluation. She is also Research Fellow at the University of Exeter Medical School (UK) where
she
received her PhD with a thesis focusing on the evaluation of surrogate endpoints in HTA, which
remains one of her main research topics. Oriana has been involved in many
national and international research projects, often involving coordination
among several partners, such as MedTecHTA (FP7 no. 305694), Mapping NCD (FP7 no. 602536) and, more recently, COMED (H2020 no.779306). Her research activities have been
funded by external sources, both private and public Oriana
is
author of several publications in HTA, health economics and health services research and reviewer for many international academic journals. She is member of the Early Career Committee of the European Health Economics Association (EuHEA), member of HTAi, of the International Association of Health Economics (iHEA), of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), of the Italian Association of Health Economics (AIES), of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and of the Italian Association of Clinical Engineers (AIIC).
